The Poetry Corner

"Christmas"

A time for gathering in sharing each other’s joy.
A moment of peace before the children open their toys.
A time of kinship, and of stories to be told.
About caring and giving, and memories we hold.

It is a time of remembrance of what we have.
It is a time of offering to those that lack.
It is a time to prey for the one who can’t make it home,
But lets not forget, it is a time of smiles and cheers, and the enjoyment of all to come.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone!!!

"Destiny"

When people talk of destiny, I always wonder where I’ll be.
In a far off day from now, will I stand on solid ground,
Or will I fall under, lost and unable to find a footing?
Screaming out in silence, asking for help but no one listen.
Searching for a path, but lead by confusion, no road taken.

"Forgotten"

A falling, dying leaf,
Left alone to crumple beneath unnoticing feet,
Bit by bit, weathered away, eventually no one remembers.
It is but a single leaf, there are so many others so green,
One lost is no lost, no need to whimper over such insignificant things.

"A Harsh Winter Night"

Flung open his window mid-winter night.
Cold breezes, waking dreamers, bite dreary sight.
The old man stood still, bracing the harsh wind,
Blowing him down, burning him through his skin.
But, the man would not relents to this world,
his might will not bends as his will is sure.

Worn tired hands reach out to faith so ill
the treasure sitting on the windowsill.
With a strong conviction he dares embraced
The precious baby bird, birthed and forsake,
Forgotten by faith, left alone to die,
just like he is, knowing life is not kind.

Remorse ran down the old man’s bright eyes
as he took the bird in, “Home of our kind.”

"A Love I Seek"

Be as it’s made until the day I die.
Nothing I regrets except your cries.
Egocentric, self serving, that I may be.
Your cries will always bring me to my knee.

It has always been just about me.
In life, in work, in all degrees….
Yet when I am standing next to you,
I see the “I” in life is not so true.

Standing with you, the sky will shine.
When led by you, I am not blind.
Never had I known a world so great,
Until I’m accompanied by your beauty and grace.
